Does your yard lighting affect your mood?

Most people may not realize it but most of what you think and feel about your yard is affected by your yard lighting. That is true about most architecture whether you realize it or not. Good lighting can lift your mood and make you feel better, while lighting that is not done properly can make the entire area (and yourself by association) feel dark and negative.

Even though people can see yellow lights more clearly than white lights, yellow lights aren’t often used for yard lighting because they don’t trigger a positive emotional reaction with most people. The color yellow is often associated with sickness, while white colors trigger an emotional response of purity. Blue and greens can trigger a peaceful emotional response in most people, studies have found.

Have you ever thought of all the things you can do because you have yard lights? Just by have strategically placedĀ outdoor string lighting alongside your fence or in your yard you’ll be able to enjoy playing with your family when it’s dark out such as frisbee or even football with your kids. There’s nothing quite as enjoyable as playing with or watching your kids run around the yard in the evening and knowing they are safe because they can see where they are running in the yard. Or you can even help to brighten your yards mood by placing an accent outdoor party light here and there to brighten the atmosphere of your yard.

By setting up your lights properly you’ll realize that not only is your yard a safer area for your family and friends but it will also be a place where you can spend quality time with your loved ones and enjoy your yard more. You will also be able to emphasize parts of your yard that you want people to see by pointing bright lights at it to show it off.
